Over the course of several years, cartoonists met with resident veterans at the White River Junction VA Medical Center who were suffering from PTSD and substance issues. The veterans shared their stories through our cartoonists, and at the same time explored new therapeutic models with the input of healthcare workers.
Through this collaboration two powerful comic books that centered veteran’s voices were created. These comics were distributed at veteran centers throughout the country. This work was supported with an National Endowment of the Arts grant and a VA Innovation grant.
