What We Stand For and Against is a classroom adaptation of the U.S. Army’s 1945 Army Talk 64: Fascism!, originally created to help American soldiers understand the political system they were fighting against during World War II.
Developed by the Applied Cartooning Lab in collaboration with educators, cartoonists, designers, and visual storytellers, the publication combines the original primary source with comics, archival photographs, a glossary, classroom activities, and discussion prompts. It is designed to help middle and high school students explore the history and dangers of fascism through historical inquiry.
The project is also the foundation for a larger public education campaign that brings the publication directly into classrooms through teacher outreach, workshops, and visits from professional cartoonists.
